Our Mission

Santa Catalina School exists to develop in each student a striving for excellence, a maturing awareness of moral and spiritual values, a sense of responsible purpose, and a determination to serve the world with courage, grace, and compassion.

Our Vision

Prepare students to lead lives of meaning and purpose.

Our Motto

Veritas—truth. Underlying all actions, relationships, and communication is the assumption that this standard exists.

Spiritual Life

At Santa Catalina School, education is more than the acquisition of knowledge; it is about the formation of the person. Spirituality is at the heart of our school’s identity. As a Catholic school, we take time in our school calendar for chapel services, Masses, retreats, and prayer. Students of all faith traditions are invited to nurture their inner lives, to deepen their sense of the sacred, and grow in compassion and ethical decision-making.

Core Values

Truth

At Santa Catalina, we teach that life has meaning, that there is a moral right and wrong, and that faith and reason are complementary in the search for the truth. Rooted in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, we believe that this commitment to veritas (truth) provides a deeper and more profound academic experience, one that prepares students to navigate the world with greater insight and wisdom.

Mission & History
Openness

A spirit of welcome and openness is characteristic of Santa Catalina School. We embrace the true meaning of the word "catholicity" (from the Greek words kata and holos, meaning "inclusive of everyone") with an invitation and welcoming spirit to all of our students. With this foundation of our Catholic heritage, we affirm, celebrate and embrace the rich diversity of our student body.

Mission & History
Service

Students at Santa Catalina learn of their responsibility to serve others. We believe that service activities help raise the consciousness of our students, with the impact of these efforts ultimately being realized in the school community and beyond.

Mission & History
Relationships

Students learn and grow best in a loving and supportive community. This emphasis on the value of relationships has been Santa Catalina’s charism, or “special gift,” since the founding of the school. It has been one of our enduring strengths and it is what has made attending Santa Catalina such a powerful experience for so many.

Mission & History

In the spirit of those pioneering Sisters who came here in 1850, and again in 1950, in great faith and courage, we must chart our course in times that are as mysterious to us as their times were to them. We, too, are adventurers in the universe. What we have in common with them is our faith, our hope, and our love and purpose of education.

Our History

Founded in 1950, Santa Catalina School’s story is enlivened by several generations of women whose faith, courage, and leadership brought a vision to fruition and by those who continue to carry that vision forward.

As we proudly celebrate our 75th anniversary, we invite you to join us as we honor the past and build the future. Visit our 75th Anniversary page to learn more about our school’s history and register for special events held throughout the year.
