The Santa Catalina Fund
The Santa Catalina Fund is an essential revenue source for the school's annual operating budget. As is true at all independent schools, tuition income does not fully cover the cost of educating our students. That's why each year we rely on the generosity of the entire school community to support the Santa Catalina Fund. Your annual tax-deductible gifts go to work immediately and impact every corner of the campus.
The Veritas Challenge
In June 2019, a group of anonymous donors joined together to pledge $5 million to rally the Santa Catalina community to finish the Legacy Campaign by June 30, 2020. The pledge, known as The Veritas Challenge, is for the school’s tuition assistance endowment. It also aims to increase annual giving through new and increased gifts to the Santa Catalina Fund. Here’s how the challenge works:
First-time donors to the Santa Catalina Fund will be matched 1:1, with Veritas funds going directly to the tuition assistance endowment.
Returning donors to the Santa Catalina Fund who increase their previous year’s gift will be matched 1:1 on the increase, with Veritas funds going directly to the tuition assistance endowment.
Family of Funds
Your contributions continue school's goal of graduating globally aware young women with skills and compassion to be exceptional citizens, thinkers, scholars, and leaders.
Your gifts provide students with leading-edge tools allowing them to discover, create, and explore in our ever-changing world.
Help students reach their greatest creative potential. Gifts to this fund provide enrichment and funding for productions, musical instruments, costume and set design, art supplies, and additional resources that encourage creative expression.
All students are encouraged to participate in athletics, thereby reaping the benefits of reaching a personal best, good health, fun, and valuable lessons of sportsmanship. Gifts to this fund provide uniforms, travel expenses, equipment, and support the expansion of our athletic facilities.
Teaching and Learning
Your gifts to this fund provide ongoing professional development for faculty and staff, as well as enhancements to the curriculum. This advanced professional training translates into creative approaches to teaching that benefit our students.
With our distinguished history of recognizing and encouraging diversity, our Tuition Assistance program is a key element in ensuring that Santa Catalina's learning environment remains both diverse and inclusive.
Gifts to the Santa Catalina Fund from parents and our greater Catalina community help support what we call the “everyday magic” of Santa Catalina. From professional development for our teachers, guest speakers, and field trips, to upgrades in technology, the Santa Catalina Fund serves as a financial backbone for it all.
Every year the Santa Catalina Fund parent campaign begins with a fall push. While our main message during this time is PLEDGE NOW, full payment is not due until June 30.
In recent years, participation from Santa Catalina parents has been growing. In 2018-19, 88% of parents contributed to the Santa Catalina Fund. This high level of support is essential when Catalina submits grant requests to foundations. Of course, increased participation across all grades would not be possible without our wonderful team of Santa Catalina Fund parent volunteers who reach out to their fellow parents each fall.
